January 2007 - The Year of Truth and Integrity

I just looked at the title I wrote for this year and laughed. Last year had the juicy title of Passion and Abundance, and this year gets Truth and Integrity! That's not very sexy is it? But try as I may to come up with a more succulent title, this one still fits the bill and I'm going to keep it.

Don't be fooled however, this is not going to be a boring year by any means. For those of you who experienced the roller coaster ride that was 2006, the party's not over. This year presents the opportunity for you to pull yourself together after a year of whirlwind change.

At the start of every year, the energy changes; it's no wonder the new year is a time for resolutions, because it really is a new beginning. As the numbers of the calendar change each year, so too do the numerological vibration that influence us all.

To find out what numerological influence we are currently in, I add all the numbers of the year to obtain a single digit. For example, we are now in 2007. So I add the numbers 2+0+0+7=9. Therefore, we are in a 9 year.

I'm a great big fan of the number 9. I remember in grade school all the wonderful math tricks that I played with that number. (Yes folks, we all have an inner geek, perhaps this is the year to let yours out of the closet!).

Here's an example that you might remember from Math 101. Let's look at the factors of the number 9. They are 9,18,27,36,45,54,63,72,81…and so on. Each one of those two-digit numbers, when added together becomes 9 again, i.e.1+8=9, 2+7=9, 3+6=9, etc. How cool is that? There's a method to this mathness. 9, no matter how you slice it, retains its 9hood. So be it, the number 9 will not lose its integrity!

Here's another example of the wonderful number 9, and how it demonstrates completeness and universality. If you add together the numbers from 1 to 8, (1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8). The sum is 36. Now, reduce that to a single digit 3+6=9. This is the only number that works in such a mysterious way.

The mysterious, mystical vibration that is 9 is our teacher this year. The universal influence it radiates will help us maintain our integrity through the many challenges that will be presented to us. You don't need to be a psychic to predict what some of those challenges are. There will be some natural disasters, more terrorism, some pretty nasty accidents and so on. All of these elements play on our fears. Yet, those elements that play on our personal fears are those we with must reckon with the most.

If we focus on our fears, we will attract more of what we are afraid of. However, if we focus on what we desire, and truly cultivate those desires, we will manifest our ultimate purpose.

Last year was an 8 year. And as I mentioned previously, it was a year of passion and abundance. That sounds wonderful doesn't it? And for some of us, it was. The interesting thing about passions however, is that many of us don't know what our passions are. We are so accustomed to doing the right thing, to pleasing people, to managing or mismanaging our finances, being worried about our physical and emotional security, that we bury our passions way beneath our responsibilities and fears.

During an 8 year, our passions command our attention. Just as a lion can sleep all day until the cows come home. You can rest assured, once that cow crosses his path, he's going to wake up and be ferocious! So too are our passions. They are wild natural instincts. You can only tame your passions so much until you acknowledge them and give that energy an expression. Not surprisingly, the number 8 card of the tarot depicts a lion.

So, if you were in touch with your passions prior to last year, you most likely experienced tremendous success with manifesting your personal desires. However, if you were not in touch with your passions, most likely, your passions got in touch with you! Relationships that were humming along all of a sudden had eruptions, and in some cases ended. Jobs that seemed entirely bearable became our nemesis. Places that seemed boringly fine to live in suddenly become our personal nightmare.

The reason for this, at least on a global level, was that your passions were being aroused, awakened, and coming up from beneath the surface. All of that energy ushered the way for the tremendous growth ahead in 2007.

The number 9, being the last single digit number, represents the end of a cycle in preparation for a new transformation. It is akin to the last days of autumn, when the harvest is at its bountiful peak, and all else is falling to seed in preparation for the winter stillness ahead. All of nature is retreating downward and inward, while your rewards for love and labor are bearing delicious fruit.

Nature shows us how best to use our energy. The seeds of your consciousness will bear fruit as you nurture them, give them energy and help them grow. Pay attention to what seeds you are planting now and what are you harvesting. Now, more than ever, it is important that you are cultivating your desires, and letting go of any unnecessary emotional or physical baggage that is hindering your growth. Use your passions as your compass to lead you to your destiny.

Following your passions takes courage. Oftentimes, our desires will lead us against the grain, forging our own path on unchartered terrain, and can leave you vulnerable to criticism. That will be your challenge this year. Living your truth is like navigating a big cosmic obstacle course. It compels you to individuate, to steer away from the cushy norm and listen to nobody's truth but your own. That might involve some risks, but you will be rewarded manifold should you remain true to your self.

This is an exciting time. The Universe is aligning itself to help you to live your personal best and fulfill your dreams. Imagine a world where each one of us is listening to our inner voice without fear of pursuing our purpose, each one of us contributing our unique beauty to the world. That is where we are heading. So if for one minute you get a twang of fear when you are about to make a personal choice, before you let your guilt or fear or insecurity get in the way, remind yourself that all of your choices are based in love. Trust that what is right for you is right for all beings.

You carry your own special light inside you. As you focus on your inner light, you act as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all others. So shine on you crazy diamond! The world is waiting for you.
